FAQs

Once the NDIA has endorsed Future Plan Management as your preferred provider (click HERE for how to endorse), we can get started. You can expect to hear from us, and we will:

● Request any information we need to finalise your setup. This can be:
      ○  a copy of your current NDIS Plan as this assists us with setting up funding within the specific categories. It is your choice whether you   
           choose to share your plan with us. 
      ○  contact and consent details (other people authorised to enquire on your behalf)
      ○  how you would like your invoices processed (auto-approve or manual approve)
●  Set up your funding and your client profile within our system
● Discuss your plan with you; how your funding aligns with your goals and what supports you intend to use your funding to pay for. We
    can also provide guidance on maximising your plan funding. It is your choice whether you would like us to assist in this regard, as you
     may already be supported by your Support Coordinator (if applicable).
● Process any immediate unpaid invoices or reimbursements – see ‘Easy Payment Options’ below.

Easy Payment Options
To have your supports paid, simply choose one of the following options:
   ● Email your approved invoices to accounts@futureplan.net.au
   ● Mail your signed invoices to Future Plan Management, PO Box 672, Redlynch Qld 4870
   ● Set up an invoice pre-approval with us so we can receive invoices directly from your providers
Efficient Processing and Tracking
   ● Invoices will be processed within 1-2 business days and payment made within 3-5 business days
   ● Monthly statements will be provided to keep you informed
   ● You will be given access to our convenient online portal to track your NDIS budget anytime, anywhere
Collaboration and Support
   ● We offer logons and copies of your monthly statement for your Support Coordinator (with your consent)
   ● Regular check-ins to ensure everything is on track
   ● Feel free to contact us anytime during business hours

NDIS Plan Management is a support service that helps individuals with disability manage their National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding.

The key responsibilities of a Plan Manager are:

  1. Budgeting and financial management: Managing the participant's NDIS funding, ensuring expenses are tracked and accounted for.
  2. Service provider payments: Coordinating the processing and claiming of invoices, ensuring timely payment.
  3. Reporting and compliance: Providing regular reports to the participant, ensuring compliance with NDIS guidelines.

The benefits of Plan Management are:

  1. Increased flexibility and control: Providers can be registered or non-registered providing greater freedom of choice for NDIS participants.
  2. Reduced administrative burden: Plan Managers handle the financial and administrative tasks, allowing participants to focus on their goals and wellbeing.
  3. Improved budgeting and financial management: Plan Managers ensure that funding is used efficiently and effectively.

Service Providers:

  1. Can be registered or non-registered with the NDIS Commission
  2. Must adhere to strict NDIS pricing limit
  3. Need to deliver their supports within designated support codes and adhere to rigid invoice requirements

The NDIA legislation outlines three ways that plan funding can be managed. Generally, the NDIS participant can make a choice, however there are some circumstances where the NDIA will determine the management of funds.


Self-Management:
Self-managed NDIS participants have control and responsibility for managing their NDIS funding. While providers may be registered or unregistered, they are not bound by NDIS pricing limits which can increase the risk of financial mismanagement and fraud. Additionally, self-managing NDIS funds involves administrative tasks such as paying service providers; maintaining detailed budget records and submitting claims directly through the NDIS portal

Agency Management:
The NDIA manages the payments and administration of NDIS plan funding and under this option, only registered NDIS service providers can be used, strictly adhering to the NDIS price guide limits.

Plan Management is available to most NDIS participants who have an approved plan. Participants can choose to self-manage, have the NDIA manage their plan, or engage a registered Plan Manager (or occasionally a combination of all three). The type of funds management type is generally selected during a planning meeting.

If you wish your funds to be plan managed, follow these simple steps:

  • Request plan management: Ask the NDIS to include plan management in your plan, either at your planning meeting or contact the NDIS HERE
  • Choose your plan manager: Endorse Future Plan Management as your plan manager at your plan meeting, or contact the NDIS HERE. We can also request the plan management on your behalf and the NDIA will contact you to approve the request.
  • Switch funds management type: You can request a change from agency-managed or self-managed at any time. Just follow the steps above.

If you are currently with a plan manager and you want to change, you can do so at any time. This is your choice. To ensure a smooth transition, please ensure you communicate openly and clearly with your outgoing plan manager and provide the adequate notice period as set out in your Service Agreement.

Once you have appointed your new Plan Manager, you should also advise your current support providers so they are aware of the new payment arrangements.

The cost of plan management is incorporated into your NDIS plan under the budget category ‘Improved Life Choices’. This funding is ‘stated’ for plan management only and does not use funding intended for your other supports. The fee consists of two parts:
  • A one-time set-up fee
  • A monthly processing fee

While it is not mandatory to share your NDIS Plan with us, providing a copy will significantly enhance our ability to support you. The NDIA will not share your plan with us, without your explicit consent.

Sharing your plan, helps us help you.

  1. Personalised Support: With your plan on file, we can better understand your specific needs and provide tailored guidance. We can discuss your goals and how they align with your funding.
  2. Accurate Invoice Processing: We can check provider invoices that do not appear to align with your funding allocations and follow up accordingly. We can ensure certain supports are paid from the most appropriate category to maximise funding.
  3. Efficiency: We can check your plan wording when we have issues or concerns, and use the details in your plan to set up your client profile. This saves everyone time and leads to faster processes.

We have several ways.

Monthly Statements
All Future Plan Management clients are sent a monthly statement in the first week of each month. This details transactions for the previous month, including your opening and closing balances; all invoices paid from your plan and other important details. This statement is sent to your nominated email address automatically however if you have opted for a printed statement, this will be mailed to your postal
address. You can change your preference at any time, by letting us know.

Planability App
You will be given access to an app-based program that gives you instant live-time visibility of payment status and funding balances. You can view all processed invoices and keep an eye on your overall plan. An email will be sent to you by Future Plan Management with instructions on how to download the app and get started.
